Three legs and one broken toe

Hello everyone.  You know when you have things happen that just kind get you down and you think just when you make a few steps forward you fall back another 1 or 2.  Well, that would be Bella today.  She has been lovin her new boots, getting along great with them and then yesterday, her pawrent dad didn’t put her boots back on before calling into the house and in her hurried manner because she fears the floors, she hooked her toe, on her one back leg of course, on the door threshold and broke her toe.  Poor thing would not walk but a few steps all last evening and so off to the vet we went this morning.  Sure enough she does have a broken toe and is on some pain meds for 5 days while the toe mends itself.  Her boot has to stay on her back foot at all times during her recovery so that she doesn’t catch it on anything else.  So, poor sweetie pie, one step forward and two steps backward.  Life is still good though and it’s only a toe and not something more serious.  I thought I was going to be shopping for a Walkin Wheels wheelchair for her way before I was expecting it.  Okay, that’s Bella’s latest challenge, but all will be fine.  Happy day to everyone.

    1. Thanks Gayle and Charon, she is lovin those extra treats. What she doesn’t know, and I ain’t tellin her either, is those treats have meds in them. Hahahaha! Pain and anti-inflamatory meds to make her all better soon.

    1. I must say though that I entered the panic zone when I saw that she wasn’t walking. I thought of hip, leg, anything bad you can bet I thought it. I even started looking at the handicappedpets.com site for Walkin Wheels. I had to have good news or I was hitting that “Click to Pay” button. When I learned it was a toe, well, I can certainly handle that! She is much better this evening now that the pain meds have kicked in. She finally went out and did her potty thingy and she got so many extra hugs that I know she thought I had really entered the crazy zone. That’s Bella story for today. Godo night everyone from Bella and Sheree.

  1. Whew! What a relief it wasn’t anything more serious, we can’t blame you for being so freaked out.

I think Bella is one of the few Tripawds here who has actually broken a toe. Hope she feels better and mends quick so she can get back to living the good life again!

    1. Thanks Jerry! Bella is just about back to normal as far as getting around. We’ve decided to leave her boots on all the time during the day and take them off at night when we all go to sleep. Her boot has helped protect that broken toe as well. We will all be very happy the day she realizes that she can walk on our wood and tile floors without any problems and that it’s really all in her head. She’s only been a tripawd since May 24th, so this is still very new to her, and given the fact that she’s had to get used to us, her new family, I believe that she’s done remarkably well given the circumstances. She’ll come around when ever she’s ready. I love her and my patience is endless. Thanks Jerry for your kindness and support.
